Minecraft is a wildly popular computer/video game that is like a blocky, pixelated sandbox world. Play is different than regular video games that usually have an end-goal. In Minecraft the game is what you make it – you can interact with other people, stay solitary, try to survive the night, and build anything you want in this block world. In 2025 Minecraft came to the big screen in A Minecraft Movie, where real-life people are pulled into the Minecraft world. The film was very successful if not exactly great cinema, and it gave Gen Z young adults a nostalgia trip and shared experience through a game most played as children.
